About these terms
These terms govern your use of MySanthiya, a free online tool for learning the Gurmukhi script and Sikh arts. By using the site — with or without an account — you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. For anything in these terms, contact us at info@mysanthiya.com.
Using MySanthiya
The Akhar and Muharni learning tools and their quizzes are free to use and need no account. Signed-in features — saving progress, points, streaks, certificates, the leaderboard, and teacher feedback — require an account. The service is provided free of charge for personal, educational use.
Accounts
Accounts are created by a teacher or administrator, or submitted through student registration and approved by a Vidyala administrator — there is no anonymous public self–sign-up. When you have an account you agree to:
- Provide accurate information when an account is created for you
- Keep your password private and not share your account with others
- Be responsible for activity that happens under your account
- Tell us or your teacher/administrator if you believe your account has been accessed by someone else
Where an account is for a child, it is set up and overseen with the consent of a parent, guardian, teacher or administrator.
Respectful use of sacred content
MySanthiya teaches Gurmukhi using lines of Gurbani and content from Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and Dasam Bani. This content is sacred. You agree to treat it with reverence — not to alter, mock, deface, or use it in any disrespectful, misleading, or offensive way.
Acceptable use
To keep MySanthiya safe and working for everyone, you agree not to:
- Use the site for any unlawful purpose or to harass, bully, or harm another person
- Send abusive, offensive, or inappropriate content through messages or any other feature
- Attempt to access another user's account or data, or any part of the system you are not authorised to use
- Try to probe, scan, break, or circumvent the site's security, rate limits, or quiz/progress safeguards
- Scrape, copy, or bulk-download the site's content, audio, or data, or use automated tools against the service
- Attempt to falsify progress, scores, points, or certificates
- Reproduce, redistribute, or sell the site's lessons, audio recordings, or other materials without permission
Messages and teacher feedback
Teachers and administrators can message their own students, and students can reply to and message the teacher(s) assigned to them. Students cannot message other students, or staff who are not their teacher. For child safety, administrators may review messages between students in their school and those students' teachers. These features are for teaching and encouragement only and must not be used to send inappropriate content. Misuse may result in an account being suspended.
Content and intellectual property
The lessons, audio recordings, design, and software that make up MySanthiya belong to MySanthiya or its content providers. You may use them for your own learning. You may not copy, redistribute, or use them commercially without our written permission. Gurbani itself is sacred and not owned by anyone; our particular recordings, arrangement, and teaching materials are.
Availability
We aim to keep MySanthiya available and working, but it is provided free and "as is". We do not guarantee that it will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted, and we may add, change, or remove features at any time. Some practice features rely on your web browser's microphone and speech recognition, which are outside our control (see our Privacy Policy).
Suspension and removal
An administrator may suspend or remove an account that breaks these terms, is misused, or is no longer needed. You may ask for your account to be closed at any time by contacting your teacher/administrator or us at info@mysanthiya.com.
Limitation of liability
MySanthiya is provided for educational use without charge. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site. Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have that cannot be excluded by law.

How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page with a revised date at the top. Continuing to use MySanthiya after a change means you accept the updated terms.
